Technical Support Specialist/Studio Manager


Summary of position:
Technical Support Specialist / Studio Manager will assist the end-user with technical support. You will be working closely with employees and clients to ensure all systems are running effectively and up to date. Key responsibilities include; responding and resolving basic computer hardware, network, printer, application and desk phone related issues. In addition,you will provide technical support/assistance to OTA broadcast signals as part of a company broad engineering team. You will also be tasked with managing the studio for end-users and cultivating opportunities with local productions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy new systems; install, upgrade and configure applications
  • Provide technical support for computer applications, software and hardware to end users
  • Troubleshoot and resolve routine issues received from end-users
  • Assess and prioritize resolutions based on level of impact to the business
  • Escalate more complex issues to System Administrators, IT Manager
  • Communicate with users for issues via ticketing system, email, and telephone
  • Maintain OTA transmitter – Abbotsford and Victoria
  • Manage/maintain all on site equipment
  • Emergency contact for all transmitter problems
  • Manage and maintain station/studio repairs and upkeep
  • Manage all studio rentals


  • Minimum three years of experience installing, configuring and managing Windows and Apple OS
  • Experience installing, configuring and managing Adobe Suite, Final Cut Pro, and MS Office suite software
  • Good understanding of networking: TCP/IP, Windows, and Apple OS
  • Good understanding with BlackBerry, Apple and Android mobile devices
  • Excellent communication skills as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Good project/time management, analytic and problem solving skills
  • Detailed oriented
  • Willingness to take initiative and present new ideas
  • Able to work flexible hours
  • Experience with Sales Force, Wide Orbit, and/or Spot Watch is an asset
  • Experience with editing and idea generation is an asset


  • Two or three year diploma in IT and/or Broadcast Engineering, or education and experience in proportion to position offered.
  • Good understanding of networking: TCP/IP, Windows and Apple OS
  • Understanding of NTSC and ATSC signal
