The Data is In – Canadians are BIG TV watchers!
The 2014/15 ratings from Numeris are out and show that Canadians are BIG time TV watchers. The numbers reveal that cord-cutting and PVR myths have been exaggerated, while affirming that conventional stations continue to rate as the #1 channel type with the largest audiences. *All data collected by Numeris, Canada’s official radio & TV ratings service.
Here are some of the highlights:
- Canadians watch television, on average, 26 Hours/week.
- 50.4% of the Canadian audience are women.
- Canadians love Sunday night television – rated #1 day of the week with largest audience.
- The elderly (64+ yrs old) watch twice as much television as teens (12-17 yrs old).
- In Vancouver 66% own a PVR, and use it for 12% of their television watching experience.
- Since 2012 National Digital cable subscribers have increased almost 10% while Analog, Satellite and Off Air have decreased.
- Digital Cable reception has decreased by 1% in Vancouver.
- Canadian Conventional stations attract the largest weekday/prime time audience.
