Public Service Announcement – JoyTV
The CRTC has required that the Canadian television system converts its over-the-air transmitters from analog to digital.
The switch to digital will affect television viewers who receive local over-the-air TV signals using an outdoor antenna or “rabbit ears”. If you are currently receiving your Over-the-Air television signal, you can continue to do so by either:
- Purchase a digital to analogue converter for your television; or
- Connect to a subscription service such as direct-to-home satellite, cable television, or IPTV; or
- Purchase a digital ready television set
Viewers that receive their TV signals by cable, satellite or another TV distribution service will not be affected.
Following the analog to digital conversion, CHNU-TV UHF-66, (JoyTV) – will be available in the Surrey, Fraser Valley and Vancouver area on UHF channel 47 instead of 66 and in Victoria it will continue to be available on UHF channel 21.
JoyTV will begin broadcasting in digital at 12 am August 31st, 2011.
More information about these changes is available at the CRTC web site at www.crtc.gc.ca.
Information regarding the Canadian DTV transition is available from Heritage Canada, www.digitaltv.gc.ca/www.telenumerique.gc.ca.
